Maddow a welcome and worthy speaker

The Smith College Sophian
Issue date: 3/4/10 Section: Opinions
Rachel Maddow is unarguably an icon. More than a political personality, she represents success for women of all orientations, in all fields. She is full-out funny, with ties to Western Massachusetts that make her seem like an old friend. It’s no wonder that someone so eloquent, intelligent and familiar would be welcomed to Smith with open arms. As I look to my own graduation, I would like to further examine Rachel Maddow as a successful, empowered woman who so clearly reflects Smith values.
I dare say Ms. Bregman is a fan.

“It’s a vital service to the city and the region, and I’m thrilled that they’ll be anchored here much longer and in a place that’s suitable for them,” Mayor Clare Higgins said.
Higgins will be among those speaking at today’s 10 a.m. kick-off event at the center along with DiBartolo, Nortonsmith, Susan Mikula and television talk-show host Rachel Maddow, who are co-chairs of the campaign committee.
