Is Rachel Maddow the Key to ending Congressional Gridlock?

I have no idea how to implement it, or if Congress would ever self impose something that would truly create more compromise but I have an Idea. What if congresspeople were required by law to make at least 3 visits to an opposing parties district each session, in a Respectable Town Hall setting, to talk to people who have opposing views.

If all you here is the beating of the drum, you’re never going to get out of your comfort zone. When the congressperson was back in their own district, they could give a first hand account of the passions felt on the other side of a passionate issue in their own district.

They could then tell their constituents that contrary to what some-others would have you believe, Advocates for the other side are not the Devil or the Anti-Christ and love their Country just as much as you do and this is how they feel and why. They can then ask, What can we do to compromise on this issue and move forward as a country?

This Gridlock thing scares me a little bit, We as a nation of people who reside in the Great Experiment, the Melting Pot of Immigrants, must once again unite as Proud Americans and demand that our Government do it’s job.

Are the House of Representatives beholden to their House Leaders or to the People they represent? The People of this Great Nation must become more involved and demand more face to face time with their representatives and exert more pressure for the The Theme to change in Washington from My Way or the Highway to Let’s Move Forward and Compromise.

Whatever it takes. They could set up a compromise committee for oversight to see what’s working in the compromised policy and whats not. Keep the Good, get rid of the Bad.

My Favorite idea of all that I’ve come up with however, is a Prime Time Game Show on a Major Network called Liberal or Conservative, hosted by Rachel Maddow. 2 Contestants, a liberal and a conservative would be competing for American History trips and tours by answering questions totally on the premise of what party was the first to bring up an Idea.

Both contestants would be given the chance to answer the 5 questions. Then Rachel would go over the answers and educate us with all her natural wit and charm, it would be hilarious and fun and we as a nation would be laughing together and learning too! That’s a Start.
