Pat Buchanan, a prominent conservative commentator for MSNBC for the last decade, is departing the channel, he said Thursday. In an essay, he cited “an incessant clamor from the left” as the reason for his departure.

A spokesman for the cable news channel said, “After 10 years, we’ve parted ways with Pat Buchanan. We wish him well.”

The circumstances of Mr. Buchanan’s departure are unclear, but he has not appeared on the channel since October…

After looking around for a few minutes I haven’t found any comment from Rachel about this. Can someone point me to anything? I hope there’s no order from upstairs to keep her mouth shut.

If Buchanan’s characterization of the parting of ways is accurate, it would be a sad thing. A couple of days ago, Andrew Sullivan said it better than I could:

Summary: Yep, he’s a bigot as well as holding some other pretty darn nutty views, but he’s honest about it and he’s internally consistent, unlike so many on the right who’ll shift their stripes however they feel they must in order to support the Republican cause of the day.

Most right-leaning media go out of their way to prevent a fair fight between their pundits and anyone who disagrees with them. Having someone like Buchanan appearing regularly on MSNBC was a sign that “our side” ain’t like “their side” when it comes to open debate. Rachel seemed to genuinely like the guy and enjoy sparring with him, so I’m eager to see if she has anything to say about the split, yea though it pisseth off her bosses.

I came here to suggest that I think Rachael is hot. I find another reason to think so. Even though I frequently disagree with Pat Buchannan, I thought he was a positive asset to the MSNBC crew. I’m reminded of when Juan Williams was fired by NPR, a very stupid action.
We need right wingers on honest media sources, just as we need left wingers on Fox News.
